The town centre is essentially a short walk from the station so you don’t need to worry about buses or taxis. It is lined with cafes in the daytime but you'll find late-night eating at The Pantiles Restaurant (who make great jaffles) and Squires, wher. As with most towns and cities, you can shop 'til you drop in Royal Tunbridge Wells. There's a mix of independent traders, boutiques, large chains and department stores. A few places offer a good range of speciality shops catering for specific tastes art, cars and classic clothes. You are also within easy reach of the excellent Ipswich Borough Council Leisure Centres which consist of bowling, swimming, billiards, soft play and a kids gym. As well as the large shopping centre at St Stephens called The Buttermarket which has just been re-developed with new stores including a new cinema and many new restaurants.

Retail parks are very popular. They make it easy for consumers to shop in a number of different retail outlets all under one roof, making it more convenient than if they had to travel to each one individually. The high street suffers from lack of space so developers have created these retail parks and they get thousands of visitors every year. Sixty minutes walk time 5km. I had no idea there was a huge retail park near Swindon railway station.

I'm always on the lookout for places to do some food shopping, it's a bit of a running joke with my family as I eat out probably more than I should. The place I normally used has shut down which is one of the reasons why I'm now using eBay for my supermarket purchases, it's great. To the east, out of the city (and up a hill!) is Lewisham Shopping Village, and if you head West to the far end of Catford (past Catford Bridge Station) you enter an area called Catford Bridge there is a large retail park housing stores like Willy Wonka's Candy Factory (a big sweet shop), a bowling alley, book shops, and many DIY stores.
